Simple mode
No architecture software skills needed. Answer a few questions, or drop in a sketch or photo, and you get a 3D massing proposal you can turn, adjust and share. One click hands it to an architect, who carries on in the professional workspace.
Getting started: I want to build…
- Open it: press "I want to build…" on the home page. On first use, the "Which software are you coming from?" dialog also offers "I'm an owner / student / new to these programs".
- Site: drag on the grid to draw the site (each square is 10 m, north is up), or type the width and depth.
- Use: home, office, shop or guesthouse / hotel. The use sets the default floor height and roughly how big each unit is.
- Floors, budget and style: the budget is optional; if you give one, the floors are limited to what it can roughly buy (indicative rates). The style sets the exterior material.
- Idea: write a sentence, or add a sketch or photo. Press "Create proposal" to open the simple workspace.
Generating with AI
- You need to sign in with Google or enter an invite code. Without signing in it still works: the proposal comes from a template and you adjust it with sliders.
- The first time, an AI notice explains where the data goes and how the quota works; nothing is sent until you confirm.
- Text only: the AI adjusts floors, size and units to your description. With a sketch or photo: the AI reads the building outline and floors; a scale on the sketch is converted to metres, otherwise the area is kept and the sketch proportions are followed.
- The AI only sets slider values; it never changes the structure of the design. You see the result first and choose "Start with this" or "Use template values". Every use counts toward the AI quota.
- In the simple workspace, the "Describe a change" tab lets you ask the AI in a sentence (e.g. "two more floors, two units per floor"); you can undo the result.
Simple workspace
- Size and floors: site width and depth, number of floors, floor height, building width and depth, units per floor. Each has a slider, a number field and − / + buttons. The building never extends past the site.
- Look and sunlight: exterior material; date (summer solstice, spring equinox, winter solstice) and time of day, with 3D shadows following the sun (Taipei).
- The 3D view (drag to turn, scroll to zoom) sits above automatically updated plan and section drawings and a plain-language summary.
Reading the numbers
- Site coverage = building footprint ÷ site area. Floor area ratio = total floor area ÷ site area.
- The numbers come from global parameter formulas inside the design, so the architect sees the same formulas.
- The rough cost uses an indicative rate for the exterior material, for comparison only, not a quote. The numbers are not a code check: ask an architect to confirm the legal coverage, floor area ratio, setbacks and height limits.
Undo and saving
- Use ↶ and ↷ at the top right, or Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Shift+Z / Ctrl+Y to redo. One slider drag is one step.
- Changes save automatically in this browser when you stop; when you are signed in with cloud saving on, they also sync in the background.
Phones
The questions and the simple workspace work on phones down to 320 px wide (one column, large buttons). Share links opened on a phone still use the read-only touch viewer.
Sharing a proposal
- Interactive proposal page: a read-only web page where others can drag sliders to try floors and sizes (the same as a player page).
- Design link: share the design as view only, comment or edit (the same as sharing).
Handing over to an architect
- "Hand over to an architect" opens the same design in the professional workspace. Sliders, global parameters (Floors, Width, Depth, FloorArea, BCR, FAR…), and the mass's use and material are all kept, so the architect can draw walls, doors and stairs or edit the formulas in the node graph.
- The home card then shows "Simple mode · handed over" and opens the professional workspace; "Open in simple mode" in the card menu brings you back. Simple mode does not change anything added in the professional workspace.
Switching between simple and professional mode
- The same design can go back and forth: "Professional mode" in the top bar of the simple workspace opens the 3D modeler; "Simple mode" in the modeler's top bar (only for designs created in simple mode) returns to the simple workspace. The design is saved before switching, so nothing is lost.
- Simple mode only changes what it owns: the values of its seven sliders (site width and depth, floors, floor height, house width and depth, units per floor) and the mass's exterior material. Walls, doors, windows, nodes, links and other settings added in professional mode are never touched.
- Values simple mode did not change are not written back, so values you changed in professional mode stay. If the same value was changed on both sides (for example professional mode open in another tab), the professional value wins, and the simple workspace tells you and shows the professional value.
- If professional mode moves a value outside the simple range (for example 50 floors, or a house wider than the site) or deletes a slider, the simple workspace only shows that value and does not change it (the control is greyed out); adjust it in professional mode.
Today’s sketch
- "Today’s sketch" next to "I want to build…" on the home page: enter the site size, draw a few strokes on the site and write one sentence of idea, and it is saved as a sketch design.
- Sketches are listed in the "Sketches" category on the home page and can be reopened and edited. "Upgrade to a professional design" in the card menu or the sketch dialog turns it into a regular design and opens it in the professional workspace: the site becomes a rectangle, each stroke a polyline and the idea a piece of 3D text, ready to use as an underlay.
- There are no reminder notifications; sketch whenever you like.
I measured the site
- "I measured the site" next to "I want to build…" on the home page is for old buildings without drawings. Walk each room clockwise and enter the wall lengths, corner angles (square = 90°) and door/window positions you measured; each room is closed (small measuring errors are spread out automatically), and "Create" adds a new design that opens in the modeler with the walls, doors/windows and rooms already in it.
- It works on a phone: one row per segment, large buttons and a number keypad. The preview at the top shows the plan as you type, with the misclosure and each segment's adjustment.
- Rooms are always built on the lowest level; your measurements are stored in the design so you can continue later in the modeler with "Site survey" (command
survey). See Site survey in the 3D modeler for details. - No AI and nothing is uploaded; it does not read photos or connect to laser meters.
Limits
- The site and the building are rectangles, with the building centred on the site; slopes, irregular sites and setbacks are handled in the professional workspace.
- AI readings can be wrong; check them before you use them.
